Headlight Restoration Service In Brewster, NY
Restore Your Headlights, Get Better Visibility, and Make Your Car Look Newer
Do your headlights have a foggy-hazy look to them? Maybe you’ve noticed your visibility at night or during the rainy times is much lower (thank you north eastern weather). No worries, you don’t have to replace them, nor do you have to open up your lens (as many people think the haziness is from the inside of the lens. Most of the time it’s not).
Headlight Restoration
The Ultimate Headlight Restoration Process
We don’t use a generic headlight repair kit that you find at your local auto parts store. We go through a full 8-step sanding, compounding, polishing, and protection process to offer the best results.
Start sanding headlight with 800 grit - The first round of sanding is where the oxidization is removed. You'll see a lot of slurry come off.
Sand headlight with 1,000 grit - As we move up the process, we remove less oxidization. The focus now is to refine the sanding marks.
Sand headlight with 1,500 grit - You can start to see a noticeable difference in the clarity of the headlights.
Sand headlights with 2,500 grit
Sand headlights with 3,000 grit - This is the final sanding step. The headlight is looking much clearer.
Compound the headlights - Using a cutting disc, compound, and machine polisher, we'll remove the sanding marks.
Polish the headlights - Finally, we'll refine the cutting step to bring out maximum clarity with a light polish and polishing pad.
Protect the headlights - For protection, we'll apply a 2-year ceramic coating. This will provide durable protection.
By sanding your headlights, we’re removing the old layer of clear coat that has failed and oxidized (which leads to the yellow-foggy look). Then we’ll compound and polish to bring them back to a like-new condition. Finally, for protection, we’ll apply a 1-year ceramic coating.
Notice: We no longer offer headlight restorations as a stand-alone service. It’ll need to be combined with at least one other service.
Price may vary based on size and condition of headlights.

Like many things, once the headlights get to a certain point, there is only so much we can do to restore them to a like-new condition. Your headlights can look better after we’re done, but there can also be permanent damage.
-
Your headlights, just like your paint, have a clear coat on them. As the suns beats on it week after week, the clear coat starts to deteriorate. Eventually what was the clear coat turns into an ugly yellow layer gunk.
Considering the heat that Brewster produces, your headlights are exposed to maximum heat- and if you park your car directly in the sun for most of the day, that’s only going to add to the damage. Because of the material of the headlights, the clear coat on them don’t last nearly as much as the clear coat on the paint. -
It can be a bit tricky. Typical waxes and sealants will only protect your car for so long. If you park your car in the shade most of the time, then they’ll simply last longer than if you park outside in the sun most of the time.
You can apply a sealant or wax to your headlights every 3 to 5 weeks. This can take less than 15 minutes to do.
